LFCE Delivers First-Ever Financial Acumen Business Forum
for Pioneer Organization in Executive Mentoring, MENTTIUM 100
When it comes to financial statements, every business professional has something to learn. For the financial expert, the path to accelerated success may lie in communicating crucial data to decision makers who may or may not have a financial focus. Likewise, those in non-financial areas of expertise can accelerate their careers by building a skill for understanding the numbers. “Being able to ask - and to answer - the right questions about the numbers is a key competency professionals must have no matter what aspect of the business they operate in,” notes Kathy Leck, Executive Vice President, Lake Forest Corporate Education (LFCE). “Financial skill is central to professionals’ ability to see how their decisions impact the bottom line and help their organizations achieve strategic goals.”
Targeting this critical business competency, LFCE designed a powerful seminar, Decoding Financial Statements, for a very special group of future business leaders – over 200 high-potential women and their mentors participating in the MENTTIUM 100 business forum series. Dr. Marian Powers led MENTTIUM 100’s first-ever financial acumen program in Minneapolis and Chicago to rave reviews. In addition to serving on the LFCE faculty, Powers, President of Needles & Powers, Inc., is an accomplished textbook author and management trainer specializing in accounting and financial reporting and analysis.
During the half-day, interactive session, Powers offered real-world strategies for asking the right questions about financial statements, examining the four most important numbers in the financial statements, and communicating financial information to decision makers. “Our participants truly enjoyed the best of both worlds in this program,” notes Tiffany Churilla, Vice President and Senior Consultant, MENTTIUM Corporation. “Powers clearly shows expertise in high-level financial analysis. Yet she used her experience to offer practical techniques and strategies that business professionals with diverse backgrounds can strategically incorporate as they assume leadership roles within their organizations.”
A pioneer in cross-company mentoring and executive development,
MENTTIUM Corporation helps organizations attract, develop, and retain talented women professionals. Its mentoring solution, MENTTIUM 100, has made a positive impact on the careers of countless high-potential women business professionals. “One reason for our success is our emphasis on real-world experience. We link talented individuals with experienced mentors from other organizations and supplement these one-on-one relationships with cutting-edge seminars on topics of critical importance to aspiring business leaders,” explains Churilla. “With LFCE’s like-minded focus on real-world experience, solid business theory, and measurable results, it’s no surprise this business forum on unlocking the secrets of financial statements was such a great success.”
